Upper respiratory infections

Otitis media

Otitis externa

Pediatric Symptoms Requiring Emergency Room Evaluation

If your child has any of the following, please go directly to the nearest emergency room — do not wait for a clinic appointment.

Severe breathing difficulty
Rapid breathing, chest retractions, grunting, or inability to speak or cry normally.

High fever with lethargy
Fever accompanied by extreme sleepiness, confusion, or inability to stay awake.

Seizures
Any seizure activity, especially if prolonged or first-time.

Severe dehydration
No urine output, dry mouth, sunken eyes, or inability to keep fluids down.

Persistent vomiting or abdominal pain
Especially if associated with blood, severe pain, or signs of appendicitis.

Head injury with concerning symptoms
Loss of consciousness, repeated vomiting, confusion, or worsening headache.

Severe allergic reaction
Facial swelling, difficulty breathing, widespread hives, or collapse.

Signs of serious infection
Stiff neck, rash that does not blanch, or extreme irritability.

Uncontrolled bleeding
Bleeding that does not stop with pressure.

Inability to move an arm or leg
Possible fracture or neurological concern.
